Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the start of the Summer term. I am sure we would all agree that this continuing situation is not what we want for our learners but it is keeping us all safe and as a community we will make this work!
Home learning should start today but as a profession we are waiting for the Minister to give us clear guidance and direction for home learning throughout Wales. Whilst looking forward to this statement we want to be ready by making sure all of our technology is ready and working and we need your help with this.
Lots of parents and children will be familiar with the app See Saw and as a school we are going to use this throughout the school to support home learning for every learner. Today, every parent will receive new log in details from their class teacher (by 5pm) Some children may already have passwords and log ins but it is vital everyone uses the new details. We have chosen to use See Saw as we can give feedback, it is easy to use and families with children throughout the school will only need to access one platform.
Now the challenge for the start of this week is the actual logging in and posting a task to the teacher so we are going to set a very simple task to make sure everything works.
We are going to ask every child to design an Easter Egg to be sold in shops next year.
Children in Nursery, Rec and Yr 1- Draw an Easter Egg either on paper or using the drawing tools on the app and post it
Children in Years 2 and 3, Draw the packaging the Easter Egg will be sold in thinking carefully about the TV programmes, games, pop groups that would encourage children to want to buy the egg (eg Barbie, Lego etc). You may even want to make your packaging 3D.
Children in Yrs 4, 5 and 6 . Create an advert for the Easter Egg you design, this can be a poster, a song, a rap, a TV advert. You can upload from I movie etc, make a video using See Saw or upload an image.
The main purpose to this task is that as a school community we establish a way of interacting with each other in a purposeful and meaningful way to support Home Learning.
Here is an online tutorial showing you how to use the app. Please don’t look for a letter with a QR code, the log in details you need will be sent to you via text.
As always, we will support you in any way we can. If you need us please contact us through the school mobile or by commenting below and we will contact you.
Pob Lwc (Good Luck) everyone
